At the beginning of the month, while Logan was on spring break, we decided to make a pilgrimage to Versailles, Kentucky! My only sibling, Johnny, moved to this quaint place just outside Lexington almost a year ago. This was our first time going to visit his adorable little town, and I’m going to be honest with you: it was completely enchanting.
When we first arrived, we went directly to Johnny’s apartment, which is a situated above a main street boutique. As soon as we arrived, Johnny greeted us with a tour of the place and had some brand new justice league toys waiting for Logan. Needless to say, Logan was over the moon!
We went to many breweries and restaurants that were filled to the brim with friendly waitstaff and delicious southern cooking. One in particular, Wallace Station, was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives… oh. my. stars. was it delicious! Both my brother and I chose a fried chicken special, and we both concluded it was beyond delicious and worth coming back for that dish alone!
Johnny also took us to The Summit at Fritz Farms shopping center, which was heavenly. We got delicious ice cream at Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream, I’d highly recommend the bourbon ball sundae- it was fantastic. We spent a good chunk of time just wandering around and shopping in the area.
We also went to Keeneland Racetrack to take a leisurely stroll around like the classy folks that we are-ha! It was open to the public, but we weren’t quite in time for the racing season. It was really cool to see the place though, as it was so beautifully built.
However, I’d have to say my favorite part of the trip was going to Red River Gorge. It had some of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen. It was *insanely* muddy at this time of year though, so if you go, pack boots! An added bonus is riding a lift up the mountainside, which if you have a little one like ours, will be the highlight of the day!
I hope this post helps if you’re planning to be in the Lexington, Kentucky area. We had such a fun time and can’t wait to visit my little brother again!
