As you all know, in the world of Star Wars lovers, May 4th IS Star Wars day. (Even those who didn’t know, I’m sure many of you saw your Instagram feed flooded with “May the 4th be with you” pics all. day. long.) However, the next day, May 5th, we were invited over to a friend’s house for a “Revenge of the 5th” party.
I was a bit skeptical at first, as I’m not a huge costume person. But with fun people, it really doesn’t matter what kind of party it is, right?? So as the time drew closer, I got more excited. Eventually, Logan and I made a pilgrimage to our local thrift shop to try to piece together costumes for both of us. Logan decided he wanted to be Darth Vader and I chose an Ewok because I thought it was an easy homemade costume.
Logan’s pants were hand-me-down from our friends, the Dusing’s, but everything else was purchased for the event! The sweatshirt was $0.99 at Goodwill, and the light saber and cape were picked up at the Dollar Tree by our house!
I already owned a maxi skirt and brown shirt, but bought the thin weight brown sweater and peach scarf for around $5.00 total at Goodwill. The biggest part to acquire were those ears! I had a hunch there’d be a headband with ears on it at Forever 21 and thankfully I was right! For about $4.50 I bought a headband with white ears. (I then soaked the ears in tea over night to turn them darker.) To hold the scarf in place, and keep it from slipping off my head, I poked holes in he scarf and put the ears through it. I also pinned it to my sweater by my shoulders so I didn’t have to worry about it all night!
We ended up all having a blast- kids and adults alike! Plus, now I’ll have an Ewok costume in my closet for the rest of my life- and who doesn’t need that?! Ha!
